The thick sealing ring in M42 guarantees total tightness for both pressure and vacuum. The sealing ring comes in several materials for differnet media and temperatures. M42 is delivered with EPDM seals as a standard.
EPDM (grey) For temperatures from +120° to –50°C. Good weather- and ozone resistance. Suitable for water and air. Resistant to vegetable oils.
NITRILE (black) For temperatures from +100° to –40°C. Oil resistant to mineral oils and petrol.
VITON (black) For temperatures from +250° to –30°C. Resistant to petrol, mineral oils and most chemicals even at high temperatures. Not suitable for ketones and lacquers solvents.
SILICONE (white) For temperatures from +100° to –40°C. Good weather- and ozone resistance.
