At Tykoflex, sustainability is more than just environmental responsibility – it’s about creating robust solutions that stand the test of time and simplify the work of those maintaining and improving critical infrastructure. From energy supply to the food chain, our focus is on longevity and reliability.
Since 1958, we have collaborated with customers to design and develop products that help build a society where resources are used wisely, and environmental impact is minimized.
Our products contribute to safer critical infrastructure, which in turn helps create a safer society. By simplifying and accelerating the repair of essential infrastructure, our connections ensure continuous communication and energy supply, even in the
most challenging conditions. With our connections, maintenance is streamlined, reducing downtime, costs, and negative societal impact.
“Connectivity and communication are crucial for national security and a sustainable society. In times of crisis or conflict, we must trust that our infrastructure will function without interruption. Robust, maintenance-free equipment and local supply chains are essential for ensuring long-term operations under uncertain conditions. A society with secure connectivity and reliable communication can better manage crises, protect its citizens, and maintain critical functions when it matters most.”
Freddy Jönsson Hanberg, Chairman of the Total Defense Foundation and Board Member of the Swedish Civil Defense Association
Many of our solutions have been in operation for over 30 years and continue to perform at a high level. By focusing on upgradeability, we ensure that our products can be adapted to meet today’s demands, significantly reducing the need for new production.
“I started working summers at Tykoflex in 1964, helping manufacture fuel systems for the Swedish Defense Forces. They had extremely high quality standards, and at the same time, the company was driven by a strong commitment to creating products built to last.
That experience shaped my philosophy. As owner and CEO from 1980 to 2023, I made sure that Tykoflex always pursued solutions designed for long-term function and durability.”
Anders Örjes – former owner and CEO at Tykoflex since 1964
We design and manufacture modular products that can be upgraded rather than replaced. By continuously enhancing our connections, we reduce material consumption and extend the lifespan of our products. By minimizing waste, unnecessary production cycles, and disposable practices, we conserve resources and reduce our climate impact. This is how we create truly sustainable infrastructure.
At Tykoflex, we take responsibility for our climate impact and actively track and collect data on our CO₂ emissions according to the GHG protocol. This is an ongoing effort as part of our commitment to sustainability and transparency for our customers and partners.
“Sustainability isn’t just about following regulations and certifications – it’s about making better choices every day. At Tykoflex, we take a long-term approach to everything we do, from selecting our suppliers to reducing material usage. By working closely with our partners and continuously challenging ourselves, we can make a real difference – for the environment and our customers.”
Kajsa Tengroth – Purchasing Manager
From production to supply chain management, sustainability is embedded in everything we do. Through innovative solutions, carefully selected partners, and a strong focus on resource efficiency, we aim to minimize our climate footprint at every step.
“Tykoflex was one of the first customers to choose our carbon- neutral coating facility. Their commitment to sustainability and quality aligns with our own philosophy, and our collaboration has set new industry standards.”
Ralf Sohlström – CEO at Aurajoki Group
Our employees are the key to our success. We provide a safe and inclusive workplace, certified under ISO 45001, ensuring that everyone can grow and develop.
We promote social sustainability by offering internships in
collaboration with schools and local organizations, providing young people with valuable work experience while strengthening the local community and supporting inclusion and skills development.
We actively contribute to our communities through local initiatives and business partnerships. On a global scale, we support projects that build critical infrastructure in vulnerable areas and contribute to fighting serious diseases.
Our environmental efforts have been certified under ISO 14001 since 2009, and our production facility runs on self- generated solar power. Nearly 100% of our suppliers are locally based, strengthening regional partnerships while minimizing transportation emissions.
We prioritize materials with a high percentage of recycled content and work systematically to comply with REACH and ROHS regulations. This commitment makes us one of the most sustainable suppliers in the industry.
“With a focus on truly durable products, green energy, and social responsibility, we demonstrate that sustainability is not a trend – it’s the foundation of everything we do.
For our customers, this also means economic sustainability: investing in solutions that last, require minimal maintenance, and can be upgraded without disruption reduces both operational costs and resource consumption. This has been our approach since 1958 – and it’s how we continue to build for the future.”
Richard Petersson-Wigh – CEO Tykoflex
