OPGW certification training according to Svenska kraftnät’s requirements
This week we have had training with fiber installers from BRS Networks AB and Install AB to give them certification according to Svenska kraftnät’s requirements regarding OPGW installations. The training includes theoretical and practical review of current, older cables and branch cables as well as different working methods in OPGW installations.
During the training, we take a closer look at the history of overhead lines and the different designs of the cables that appear in the networks. We also take a closer look at Tykoflex’s updated variants of Joint Closure T240 together with Svenska Kraftnät’s choice of cables.
The practical steps include splicing in the Joint Closure T240, meeting branch cables, cable looping and mounting on different types of pole mounts. The practical work ends with a tightness test of the installations.
The training, which is held at Tykoflex in Tyresö, is aimed at those who already have professional experience as a trained fiber technician and who have worked for a few years in different types of networks.
8.2 Competence requirements Svenska Kraftnät
Optotechnicians working in Svenska kraftnät’s fiber network must have training/competence for measuring and splicing in long-distance optical networks with a distance between nodes of at least 70km. Competence must be verifiable with training certificate, certification or references certifying relevant work experience of at least three years of continuous work with optical long distance network.
Optotechnicians who work in Svenska kraftnät’s fiber network with OPGW must have training/competence for splicing OPGW. Competence must be verifiable with educational certificates, certification or references certifying relevant work experience of at least three years of continuous work with OPGW.
